During my HCI/D capstone project at IUB, I devoted a year to the product design process and developed a platform that assists gamers in making informed decisions when purchasing games.
Through user research with over 30 users, I identified 2 user pain points and subsequently generated two concepts that facilitate an informed understanding of games.

Gamers would buy games they think are fun, which means they have developed an expectation of the game experience in multiple ways before playing it. However, they are often disappointed because they eventually find that the game is not fun at all. How can we help gamers make informed decisions in video game purchasing?
A high media score (left) makes gamers think a game might be really fun. However, they may eventually find the game not interesting at all, or even disappointing (right).
During research, I conducted surveys, interviews and competitor analysis to understand the two main ways gamers would do to know about games they are interested in. Research finding showed that in this two main ways, gamers can not have hands-on experience of the game mechanism, and also can not understand the unique features of a game in a fast and unbiased way.
I designed a digital product, DemoClouD, to help gamers. Gamers can watch streamings about games on the platform and try the game with a save data copied from the streamer whenever they feel interested to get hands-on experience of the game mechanics. They can also write reviews and vote for game tags to help other gamers quickly understand unique features of a game.
Gamers can search for any game they are interested to watch streamings and read scores, tags and reviews
Gamers can try the game on cloud service with a save data copy from the streamer, whenever they are interested and want to have a try
Gamers can review others’ opinions on the game and give their own opinions through voting and proposing tags and writing reviews on the game page
I wrote a detailed report of the project, which covers the design problem, the final solution, and the design journey I went through.
